## UPVC & aluminium windows we have installed

Overview

## Why choose UPVC & aluminium windows
Windows are the single biggest influence on how a house feels. They set how warm the rooms are in January, how much traffic noise reaches the sofa, how much light falls into a kitchen and how secure the ground floor is at night. We supply and install replacement windows in both UPVC and aluminium, from a single failed unit in a bedroom to a whole-house replacement carried out room by room.

The service is the same whichever material you choose: a free survey at your property, a written quotation covering the whole project, manufacture to the surveyed sizes, installation by our own fitters, full making good inside and out, and certification when we finish. Nothing is subcontracted out to a team you have never met.

Most homeowners come to us when the existing windows have started to fail: misted double glazing, draughts, handles that need lifting and shoving, or frames that have discoloured beyond cleaning. Others are extending, converting a loft or changing the look of a frontage and want the glazing specified properly from the start.

### Who this is for

- Homeowners replacing misted, draughty or failing double glazing
- Period and cottage properties needing sympathetic frame styles
- New builds, extensions and loft conversions
- Landlords and developers replacing windows across whole properties
- Trade customers who need windows supplied only, from drawings
- Anyone wanting slimmer sightlines and more glass in aluminiumThe Adorn Range

The Adorn Range is our own product brand. It is the name you will see on your quotation and brochures, whether you are a homeowner or a trade customer having us supply and install. Each product in the range is built on a carefully chosen system, and we will talk you through the options when you enquire.

Why it matters

## What happens if it is left alone
Failed double glazing does not repair itself. Once the seal between the panes has gone, the unit fills with moisture, the insulating gas is lost and the pane is effectively single glazed; you keep paying to heat a window that no longer works. The misting also spreads, because each cold night pushes more damp air into the cavity.

Rotten or distorted frames cause damage well beyond the window. Water running down a failed cill soaks into the reveal, and internal plaster, skirting and sometimes floor joists follow. What starts as a straightforward window replacement becomes plastering, decorating and joinery work as well.

Windows that no longer lock properly are a security and insurance problem. Worn espagnolette gearing, dropped sashes and cracked handles mean that a window that looks shut is not actually secure, and many policies expect key-operated locks on accessible openings.

### Common mistakes we are called in to fix

- Buying on headline price alone and finding that making good, cills, trims and rubbish removal were all excluded.
- Replacing one failed unit at a time over several years instead of surveying the whole property and planning it.
- Choosing the cheapest glass specification and losing the acoustic or thermal benefit that was the reason for the work.
- Not checking which certification or Building Regulations approval your project requires; FENSA certification applies to installations as applicable, not trade supply-only.

Our process

## How we run the project, step by step

- Step 1

### Enquiry
Call, email or send us a message with what you have in mind and we will arrange a time to come and see you. If you have drawings or specifications, we are happy to work from these too.

- Step 2

### Design visit
A free, no-obligation, no-pressure design visit. We talk through every option for your project so you are fully informed before any quotation is issued.

- Step 3

### Quote
A clear written quotation with full product drawings and details for the whole project, covering products, installation, making good, certification and aftercare.

- Step 4

### Survey
Once contracted, we carry out a full site survey to confirm all final measurements and specifications. Any amendments can be made at this point.

- Step 5

### Installation
Our own, experienced installers will carry out your project to the very highest of standards. Upon completion of the installation, you will receive all relevant certification and guarantees.

- Step 6

### Aftercare
Full aftercare service is there throughout guarantee periods and beyond.

Benefits

## What you can expect

### Lower heat loss
Modern sealed units and thermally broken frames keep the heat you have paid for inside the room instead of leaking it through the glass and frame.

### Quieter rooms
The right glass specification makes a measurable difference on a road-facing elevation, which matters on busy routes through Redhill, Reigate and Dorking.

### Proper security
Multi-point locking, internally beaded units and quality hardware as standard, rather than an upgrade you have to ask for.

### Longevity
Frames made to surveyed sizes and fitted square, packed and sealed correctly, last decades rather than years.

### Low maintenance
UPVC and powder-coated aluminium need washing, not painting. No annual repaint, no filling, no sanding.

### One point of responsibility
We survey, supply and install, so if anything needs attention afterwards there is no argument about whose job it is.

In detail

## UPVC & aluminium windows: the detail

### UPVC or aluminium?
UPVC is the value choice and remains the right answer for most replacement work. It insulates well, needs almost no maintenance and comes in white, woodgrain foils and a wide range of coloured finishes. It suits standard domestic openings, rear elevations and anywhere budget matters more than sightline.

Aluminium is stronger for the same section, so frames can be much slimmer and openings much larger. That means more glass and more light for the same hole in the wall. Powder-coated finishes in anthracite grey, black and heritage colours are extremely durable, and aluminium is the natural partner to bi-fold and sliding doors on the same elevation. Aluminium is where we are strongest as a company, and where customers most often come to us for technical advice.

### Styles we supply
Casement windows in every common configuration, including top-hung vents, side-hung opening lights and fixed picture panes. Tilt-and-turn windows where cleaning access and ventilation control matter, particularly on upper floors. Sash-style windows for period frontages where the original proportions need to be respected. Bay and bow windows, including the structural work at the head. Shaped and arched windows made to template. Fire-escape hinges where a bedroom window is the designated means of escape.

Glazing options include standard A-rated sealed units, acoustic laminated glass for noisy roads, toughened safety glass in critical locations, obscure patterns for bathrooms, solar control coatings for south-facing rooms and integral blinds sealed inside the unit where cleaning around slats is a nuisance.

### How the installation is done
The old frame is removed carefully rather than smashed out, which protects the reveal and keeps the making good to a minimum. New frames are packed and levelled so the sashes operate evenly across their whole travel, mechanically fixed, then sealed inside and out. Cills and trims are cut on site to suit the opening.

The work area is sheeted up before anything is removed, tools and materials are kept tidy through the day and all debris is taken away. Making good is completed internally and externally as part of the project, not quoted as an extra afterwards.

### Trade and supply only
Builders and developers can use us for installation, with two experienced teams on the road, or for supply only. Send drawings or a schedule and we will quote from them; finished frames can be collected from our Godstone trade counter, where there is ample parking, or delivered on request. The counter is staffed by people with more than twenty years each in the industry, so technical questions get answered properly.

Questions

## Frequently asked questions

### How much do replacement windows cost in Surrey?
Price depends on the material, size, style, glass specification and how many openings are involved, so we quote each project individually after a free survey rather than publishing a headline figure that never matches the real house. Your written quotation covers survey, frames, glass, fitting, making good and certification.

### How long does a window installation take?
It depends on the number of openings, the material and access, so we confirm the expected duration in writing before you commit. We work room by room where we can, so the property stays liveable while the project runs.

### Do I need building control or council notification?
We are a FENSA registered installer. Installations are FENSA-certified as applicable, with a certificate issued where the work qualifies. We will confirm any Building Regulations notification required for your project. You will need that certificate when you sell the property, so keep it with your deeds.

### Can you replace just the glass rather than the whole window?
Often, yes. If the frames and hardware are sound and only the sealed unit has misted, replacing the glass is the sensible repair. If the frames themselves are distorted, rotten or beyond adjustment, we will tell you that instead of selling you a repair that will not last.

### How long do modern windows last?
A well-made UPVC or aluminium window fitted square and sealed properly should serve for decades, and our guarantee runs for ten years from installation. Hardware benefits from occasional lubrication and adjustment, which we cover in the product care advice you receive at handover.

### Will new windows really reduce noise?
The frame matters, but the glass does most of the work. Acoustic laminated units with an asymmetric pane arrangement make a noticeable difference on busy roads. Tell us at survey which rooms are affected and we will specify accordingly.

### What guarantee comes with new windows?
All of our installations carry a 10-year comprehensive insurance-backed guarantee underwritten through InstallSure. FENSA certification is provided for installations as applicable. Trade supply-only is not FENSA-certified.

### Is the survey really free?
Yes. The survey is free and carries no obligation. We measure, discuss the options and send a written quotation; if it is not for you, that is the end of it.

### Which areas do you cover?
We work from South Godstone across Surrey, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex and South London, with Godstone, Redhill, Reigate, Sevenoaks and Guildford as our core territory. Our trade counter is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
