Overview

## Why choose PVC doors
Not every garden elevation wants a bi-fold. Where floor space is tight, where furniture sits close to the opening, or where the look should stay traditional, a sliding patio door or a pair of French doors is often the better answer, and usually the more economical one.

All our PVC products are made to measure, which means every frame will perfectly fit every aperture. We do not buy off the shelf and try to make frames fit.

We partner with high-quality manufacturers that have been fabricating for many years.

We guarantee our products for 10 years, but their lifespan goes well beyond that, so we choose suppliers who reflect this longevity. That means we can keep providing a high standard of service through the guarantee period and beyond.

PVC is known to be the most energy-efficient material. All our PVC products meet current Building Regulations, with some going above and beyond on request.

If you need to meet a particular thermal value, let us know and we can help.

Security is at the forefront: all our products meet today's standards, with PAS24 options available on request.

### Who this is for

- Homeowners wanting to replace their current doors with a more thermally efficient and secure system.
- Modern styles available for a more contemporary feel.
- Customers that want high-quality products to enhance their home. The Adorn Range

The Adorn Range is our own product brand. It is the name you will see on your quotation and brochures, whether you are a homeowner or a trade customer having us supply and install. Each product in the range is built on a carefully chosen system, and we will talk you through the options when you enquire.

Why it matters

## Why replace rather than repair
Repair is sometimes possible, but when a door is of an age and various different components start to fail, repair may not be the most economic option, especially against today's high security and thermal standards.

Failed double glazing does not repair itself. Once the seal between the panes has gone, the unit fills with moisture, the insulating gas is lost and the door loses its thermal performance.

Doors that no longer lock properly are a security and insurance problem. Worn gearing, dropped doors and cracked handles mean that a door that looks shut is not actually secure.

### Common mistakes we are called in to fix

- Buying on price and finding that the scope of works does not live up to expectations.
- Replacing one failed component at a time, rather than getting accurate advice at the start of the project, leading to further expense and disruption later down the line.
- Choosing cheaper product specifications which compromise on performance.
- Not checking which certification or Building Regulations approval your project requires; FENSA certification applies to installations as applicable, not trade supply-only.

Our process

## How we run the project, step by step

Benefits

## What you can expect

### Features of a PVC system

### Lower heat loss
Modern sealed units and multi-chambered frames keep the heat inside and the cold outside with minimal thermal transmittance.

### Enhanced security
Multi-point locking, internally beaded units and quality hardware as standard, with options to upgrade to full PAS24 if required.

### Acoustic performance
From double glazed acoustic options to triple glazing, there is a glass that will perform for every home.

### Low maintenance
PVC in a range of colours, foiled and sprayed finishes that do not require ongoing maintenance. Simply wash down with soapy water to keep your doors looking pristine, with no need for annual sanding and painting.

### Longevity
Frames made to measure from surveyed sizes, fitted by skilled professionals and made to last you decades, not years.

### One point of responsibility
From initial enquiry, through to survey, installation, aftercare and beyond, we will project manage, looking after our customers with the highest level of service. You can rest assured you and your home are in safe hands with us.

In detail

## Patio & French doors: the detail

### Why PVC
PVC is a popular choice. It insulates well, needs almost no maintenance and comes in white, woodgrain foils and a wide range of coloured finishes.

It suits replacement works, prepared openings, residential homes and new build projects.

### Sliding patio doors
Sliding doors run on a track, with one or more panes moving past fixed panes. Two-pane and three-pane arrangements are the most common domestic configurations. Aluminium allows heavier, larger panes and slimmer frames; UPVC is the economical choice for standard openings.

Because the whole weight of the moving pane sits on its running gear, the specification of that gear and the accuracy of the installation decide how the door feels for the rest of its life. We level and pack the frame carefully, set the rollers and check the full travel before handover.

### French doors
French doors are a pair of hinged leaves that meet in the middle, usually with one master leaf carrying the handle and locking, and both leaves able to open for a full opening. Side screens can be added where the opening is wider than the pair.

They suit period frontages, cottage rear elevations and any room where the symmetry matters. They can open inwards or outwards; which is right depends on the room layout, the patio outside and the prevailing weather, and we work through that at survey.

### Glass, security and thresholds
Glazed doors in domestic settings are fitted with toughened safety glass as standard, in internally beaded units so the beads cannot be removed from outside. Multi-point locking is standard on both door types.

Threshold options run from low thresholds for accessibility to standard rebated thresholds for better weather performance. We recommend based on the exposure of the elevation and the levels outside, not on the photograph you liked.

### Replacement glass and sliders
Where the existing frames are sound, replacing misted sealed units or worn sliders is often the right call and a fraction of the cost of new doors. It is a service we offer specifically, including on doors we did not originally supply. If the frame is beyond economic repair we will say so plainly and quote for replacement instead.

Questions

## Frequently asked questions

### Which is better, a sliding patio door or French doors?
It depends on the room. Sliders suit tight rooms and wide openings because nothing swings inward; French doors suit traditional properties and give a fully clear opening. We will look at the room and tell you which we would choose and why.

### Can you repair my existing sliding door?
If the frame is sound, replacing misted sealed units can restore the aesthetic appeal. If the frame and other components are deteriorating, replacement is the honest answer and we will explain why.

### How much do patio or French doors cost?
The price depends on material, size, configuration and glass, so we quote after a free survey. The quotation covers the doors, installation, making good and certification.

### How long does the installation take?
A single set is usually a one-day project once the doors are made, subject to access and the condition of the opening. We confirm timings in writing before you commit.

### Are sliding doors secure?
Modern sliding doors have anti-lift devices and multi-point locking, with toughened, internally beaded glazing. They are a world away from the aluminium sliders of the 1980s that people picture.

### Can I have a low threshold for wheelchair access?
Yes. Low-threshold options are available on both door types. We will make sure the external drainage and levels suit before specifying one, because a low threshold needs the ground outside to be right.

### What guarantee comes with patio or French doors?
All of our installations carry a 10-year comprehensive insurance-backed guarantee underwritten through InstallSure. FENSA certification is provided for installations as applicable. Trade supply-only is not FENSA-certified.

### Is the survey really free?
Yes. The survey is free and carries no obligation. We measure, discuss the options and send a written quotation; if it is not for you, that is the end of it.

### Which areas do you cover?
We work from South Godstone across Surrey, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex and South London, with Godstone, Redhill, Reigate, Sevenoaks and Guildford as our core territory. Our trade counter is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
