Overview

## Why choose aluminium doors
We supply and install the Spitfire Doors range, including options for single, double and pivot doors. Ask us about the options when you enquire.

Aluminium is where we are strongest. We supply and install aluminium doors in every common configuration: front and entrance doors, side and rear residential doors, and French doors onto garden elevations, in powder-coated finishes that need washing rather than painting.

All our aluminium products are made to measure, which means every frame will perfectly fit every aperture. We do not buy off the shelf and try to make frames fit.

We partner with high-quality manufacturers that have been fabricating for many years.

We guarantee our products for 10 years, but their lifespan goes well beyond that, so we choose suppliers who reflect this longevity. That means we can keep providing a high standard of service through the guarantee period and beyond.

Aluminium has fewer restrictions than PVC, so frames can be made wider and taller. Aluminium sections are also slimmer, giving larger glass areas.

All our aluminium products meet current Building Regulations, with some going above and beyond on request.

If you need to meet a particular thermal value, let us know and we can help.

Security is at the forefront: all our products meet today's standards, with PAS24 options available on request.

### Who this is for

- Homeowners wanting to replace their current doors with a more thermally efficient and secure system.
- Modern styles available for a more contemporary feel.
- Heritage styles available to replicate traditional Crittall windows and doors.
- Customers that want high-quality products to enhance their home. The Adorn Range

The Adorn Range is our own product brand. It is the name you will see on your quotation and brochures, whether you are a homeowner or a trade customer having us supply and install. Each product in the range is built on a carefully chosen system, and we will talk you through the options when you enquire.

Why it matters

## Why replace rather than repair
Repair is sometimes possible, but when a door is of an age and various different components start to fail, repair may not be the most economic option, especially against today's high security and thermal standards.

Failed double glazing does not repair itself. Once the seal between the panes has gone, the unit fills with moisture, the insulating gas is lost and the door loses its thermal performance.

Doors that no longer lock properly are a security and insurance problem. Worn gearing, dropped doors and cracked handles mean that a door that looks shut is not actually secure.

### Common mistakes we are called in to fix

- Buying on price and finding that the scope of works does not live up to expectations.
- Replacing one failed component at a time, rather than getting accurate advice at the start of the project, leading to further expense and disruption later down the line.
- Choosing cheaper product specifications which compromise on performance.
- Not checking which certification or Building Regulations approval your project requires; FENSA certification applies to installations as applicable, not trade supply-only.

Our process

## How we run the project, step by step

- Step 1

### Enquiry
Call, email or send us a message with what you have in mind and we will arrange a time to come and see you. If you have drawings or specifications, we are happy to work from these too.

- Step 2

### Design visit
A free, no-obligation, no-pressure design visit. We talk through every option for your project so you are fully informed before any quotation is issued.

- Step 3

### Quote
A clear written quotation with full product drawings and details for the whole project, covering products, installation, making good, certification and aftercare.

- Step 4

### Survey
Once contracted, we carry out a full site survey to confirm all final measurements and specifications. Any amendments can be made at this point.

- Step 5

### Installation
Our own, experienced installers will carry out your project to the very highest of standards. Upon completion of the installation, you will receive all relevant certification and guarantees.

- Step 6

### Aftercare
Full aftercare service is there throughout guarantee periods and beyond.

Benefits

## What you can expect

### Features of an aluminium system

### Lower heat loss
Modern sealed units and thermally broken frames keep the heat inside and the cold outside with minimal thermal transmittance.

### Enhanced security
Multi-point locking, internally beaded units and quality hardware as standard, with options to upgrade to full PAS24 if required.

### Acoustic performance
From double glazed acoustic options to triple glazing, there is a glass that will perform for every home.

### Low maintenance
Powder-coated aluminium in a range of colours and finishes that do not require ongoing maintenance. Simply wash down with soapy water to keep your doors looking pristine, with no need for annual sanding and painting.

### Longevity
Frames made to measure from surveyed sizes, fitted by skilled professionals and made to last you decades, not years.

### One point of responsibility
From initial enquiry, through to survey, installation, aftercare and beyond, we will project manage, looking after our customers with the highest level of service. You can rest assured you and your home are in safe hands with us.

In detail

## Aluminium doors: the detail

### Entrance and front doors
An aluminium entrance door is the most-used moving part of a house, so it is specified around use as well as looks: leaf design, glazed or solid panel, handle type from long bar pulls to flush options, colour inside and out, and the threshold that suits the elevation.

We survey the opening, check the structure and the existing threshold build-up, and quote the complete project including fitting, making good and rubbish removal, rather than the door on its own.

### Residential side and back doors
Side and rear doors take the hardest life of any door on a property: wet coats, bikes, bins and children. Aluminium suits them because the leaf stays rigid and the finish does not need repainting where it is knocked and scuffed.

Glazing is specified to suit the position, from obscured units on bathroom-side elevations to toughened low-level panes where the glass runs close to the floor.

### Aluminium French doors
French doors give a wide, symmetrical opening without the running gear of a bi-fold or slider. In aluminium the meeting stile can be slim, so two leaves look more like a glazed opening than a pair of doors.

We check the head and threshold carefully at survey. French doors show up any deflection or settlement immediately, because both leaves have to meet cleanly along their full height.

### Matching doors to windows
Where doors and windows appear on the same elevation, we set them out together: the same powder-coated colour, consistent sightlines and the same hardware finish, so the frontage reads as one specification rather than several purchases.

Most of this work is residential, but the same range suits offices, showrooms and small commercial frontages. We are CHAS accredited and are used to working alongside main contractors on a programme.

Questions

## Frequently asked questions

### Why choose aluminium over UPVC for a door?
Aluminium is stronger, so frames can be slimmer and glass areas larger, and the leaf stays rigid rather than flexing. Powder-coated finishes are durable and washed rather than painted. UPVC remains a sound choice where budget matters more than sightlines, and we will say so honestly at survey.

### Are aluminium doors secure?
Yes. A rigid aluminium leaf combined with multi-point locking gives a door that resists forcing and does not drop out of alignment over time.

### Will the colour fade?
Powder-coated aluminium finishes are extremely durable and need washing rather than repainting. That is one of the main reasons people move from timber to aluminium.

### Can an aluminium door go into my existing opening?
Usually, yes, but we survey it first. We check the structure at the head, the threshold build-up and the squareness of the reveal before confirming anything.

### Do you fit aluminium doors and windows together?
Yes. Matching colour, sightlines and hardware across an elevation is a large part of what we do, and it is far easier to get right when both are specified at the same survey.

### How is the work certified?
Replacement glazing is installed to current Building Regulations and self-certified under FENSA as applicable, with your certificate issued on completion.

### What guarantee comes with an aluminium door?
All of our installations carry a 10-year comprehensive insurance-backed guarantee underwritten through InstallSure. FENSA certification is provided for installations as applicable. Trade supply-only is not FENSA-certified.

### Is the survey really free?
Yes. The survey is free and carries no obligation. We measure, discuss the options and send a written quotation; if it is not for you, that is the end of it.

### Which areas do you cover?
We work from South Godstone across Surrey, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex and South London, with Godstone, Redhill, Reigate, Sevenoaks and Guildford as our core territory. Our trade counter is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
